Aloha Friday #82

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday hosted by An Island Life. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is a day to take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays we take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, we ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. Visit the Island Life Blog for more Aloha Friday QuestionsPhotobucket

My Question:

When did you start potty training and how long did it take until your child was completely potty trained? If you haven't started yet, when do you plan on starting?

That was the easy qustion, if you have more time to tell me how you did it, I would love to get some potty training suggestions on my post about attempting to potty train my daughter

  1. my son I think we started at 2 or 2.5 and it took a couple months if I remember correctly. Not sure when we will start with my youngest.

  2. The ability to potty train is actually a physical thing that is individual for each child. To be honest, I don't even remember when they started although, I can say that my daughter was earlier than my son.

  3. Well, my son is nine and a half now, but it took us three weeks and he was completely trained. It was a piece of cake for him! :)

  4. I waited until mine were ready, which was age 3 to be fully potty trained.

  5. I had no patience and so I waited until the kids trained themselves. Both were just over 3 when they were trained.

  6. my son was exactly 2.5, my husband put underwear on him and the rest is history! Now my daughter will be 1 soon so I still have a bit, but I get the feeling she will not be as easy!

  8. Oh my daughter is potty training now. She isn't doing very well! She will say when she has to go but won't go then pees in the house or as soon as her diaper is on. My son was a nightmare at potty training! He was 3 when he finally peed on the potty. Wouldn't poop though! Then would go play outside pull over undies and poop in the yard. Oh the fun joys of potty training. good luck :)

  9. My son was 3 & after following Daddy into the potty & watching he was ready. The poop we had to bribe though.

Daughter we let run around sans bottoms & after wetting herself once she never did it again. Even poop wasn't a trial. Now, the night time? She wasn't able to go dry @ night until she was 5. It was a long process but we made it!

  10. I pushed to early with our first son...he was just over two and it was not a fun experiance for anyone! lol It was a long three month ordeal and I wish that I just would have waited.
With my daughter I waited until she was nearly three then simply put her on the toilet once and she has never had an accident. She just turned 5.
Our youngest turned three in November and I only started him about two months ago..he was just not interested before that. And while he has not been as easy as my daughter he is just about accident free at this point. Fully trained through the night and no peepee accidents but we still have the occasional poop in the undies lol!
My greatest advice would be to try it an see, if your little one is simply not ready I would relax and just try again later when they be more prepared. No matter what anyone says it really does vary from child ot child. Also stright to underwear was the way we wnet only usng pullups for the first few nights as well as certain outings like church and mall shopping all day lol. Even to friends houses we went in undies and just took extra. I think they really can tell a difference when they wet in a pullup as oppossed to underwear.
    Good Luck!

  11. Thanks for all the comments. I kept thinking she was late at this skill but it sounds like a lot of kids are training later.

  12. My older two where potty trained by time they were 2. Now my 3 year old -- we were doing real good until my husband had surgery and it kind of messed up our schedule. Now we are back on schedule and he seems to be getting it again. For him we have a pee-pee dance we do and high five each other in the bathroom. It's quite funny but he enjoys it.

  13. I hope to start when my son is 2, but I know boys can sometimes be late bloomers, so I'll start when he shows signs that he's ready

  14. I think when my son was 2 or maybe a little before. He was watching Dad and big brother so he wanted to try. It's taken nearly a year and he still has accidents. He's getting better. We don't have the over night down though.

  15. We tried on and off starting at 2.5. We would start on Friday and go through the weekend with just underwear, taking timed trips to the potty. If, by Sunday,. she didn't make any progress, we knew she wasn't ready and would try again in a month. Finally, at 3 years, 4 months, we put her in underwear and never an accident since. You can't make them ready if their boies aren't...

  16. I'm all about waiting until Megan can communicate her needs - if that's at two, great! If it's at three, well, I can live with that too. They are only this little once, right?
