Aloha Friday #87

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday hosted by An Island Life. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is a day to take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays we take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, we ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. Visit the Island Life Blog for more Aloha Friday QuestionsPhotobucket

I'm still looking for the perfect first career job. There's so many jobs I'd love to do but I need to start out at the bottom and work my way up. What was your first career-type job or first job as an adult (ie: not working at McDonalds in high school)? If you haven't worked yet what is your ideal entry-level job? And I know this is supposed to be a quick question, but if you have more time tell me about how it led you to your current job.

  1. My first 'career' job was as an RN.
It's a good choice for moms wanting to go back to school.

  2. Mine was in the city ER :) I loved the rush. However i got out of the medical field because I was sick of having to chose between my holidays and weekends or my kids.

Now I'm a birthday party coordinator for Mad Science :) Oh and I don't work weekends OR holidays now!

  3. When I first graduated from college (before my Masters Degree) I was a full time building substitute in a school. It was a tough job going into a different classroom each day. I was so much happier when I finally got a classroom of my own after my son was born.

  11. I worked in Medical Records for a Psychiatric Hospital. lol I did a little bit of everything but my title was Discharge Analyst. I collected the medical records of all the patients that had been discharged then I made sure all the paper work was there and that every nurse's/doctor's note was initialed or signed. The scary part was collecting the records from the "locked" floor where all of the dangerous crazy people were. lol

  14. My first and current (hopefully my only) career job is a preschool teacher.

Getting to this job, while in college, I work with children in a psych hospital setting. That made me decide that I wanted to teach.

  15. I worked as a secretarial temp, got hired on permanently as an Accounting Assistant, and went full-blown accounting from there... Not exactly what I would have chosen, but I can't complain, and I've found ways to make it fit me - like doing lots of project management combined with the accounting.
