I've come across some articles on mothers that I want to share in honour of mother's day.
Raina Kelly talks about how modern motherhood is impossible and how there are not enough hours in a day to do everything we need to get done. It lists some things that we need to learn in order to let go of feeling not good enough. I particularly like it when they talk about how we have idealized perceptions of our mother that might not always be 100% accurate. I'm sure my mom wasn't perfect but I forgot about the little incidents and remember all the happy times.
A Mother's Day Uprising
As moms we do a lot unpaid household work such as cleaning, cooking, daycare, teacher and driver. Apparently my husband should be paying me $135,00 a year to be a stay-at-home mom. He sadly doesn't make anywhere close to that so I guess I'll keep volunteering. For those who work outside the home, you should be paid approximately $83,000 for all your work outside of work.
What's a Mother's Work Really Worth?
You can also calculate your personalized annual salary. Try presenting your husband or kids with a bill for it.
I hope everyone has a Happy Mothers Day!
